Done Deal: Huge Manchester United transfer news to be announced within few hours

Manchester United could be about to learn their fate regarding the transfer of Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba.

However, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, it’s looking likely not to be good news for Red Devils supporters as the defender is expected to sign a new contract at the Nou Camp.

As noted in the report by Don Balon, United have been among the clubs looking at Alba’s situation in recent times, along with other big names like Manchester City and Juventus.

The Spain international is one of the finest players in the world in his position and could have been an ideal upgrade on Luke Shaw at Old Trafford, even if the England starlet has been much improved this term.

Still, it seems like Man Utd won’t get their hands on their man on this occasion if Don Balon’s report proves to be accurate.

An official announcement should now be made within the next 24 hours or so.

He can leave!!! Chelsea set asking price for star man as late transfer bids approaches

Chelsea have reportedly decided they could loan out Andreas Christensen before the end of the transfer window.

This follows a row with Blues manager Maurizio Sarri after recently missing the end of the Arsenal defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

And according to the Sun, Chelsea now seem prepared to let Christensen go as Juventus and Borussia Dortmund show an interest in a late January move, though he’d cost a loan fee of around £6million.

This is an unfortunate turn of events for the talented young Denmark international, who not so long ago looked set for a big future at Stamford Bridge.

Christensen looked particularly impressive in a two-year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, and was handed more of a first-team role by Antonio Conte at Chelsea last season.

Since Sarri replaced Conte, however, the 22-year-old has seen much less playing time and it makes sense now that he could be on his way out.

Still, some CFC fans will no doubt be wary of losing a talented young player, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah also let go too soon earlier in their careers before making it big at rival clubs.

Christensen looks to have the potential to do similar if he can get more playing time and settle in at the right club and under the right manager.

Done deal!!! European giants confirm star player is leaving for Arsenal in the next 24 hours

Barcelona boss, Ernesto Valverde, has confirmed that Denis Suarez is close to joining Arsenal.

“Denis is about to go to Arsenal, there is not much left to make it official.

“We hope he does well. He has always acted with dedication and we are happy with him,” Valverde said.

Suarez has renewed his contract with the club until 2021 and will now be allowed to sign for Arsenal on loan this January, Marca reports.

There will be an option to make the deal permanent in the summer for €25m.

The Gunners have been exploring the possibility of signing the 25-year-old on loan during the January window, as they are unable to spend money on big transfer fees.

Arsenal offered a €2million (£1.7m) loan fee, but could not agree on the inclusion of a clause, which would require them to permanently sign the midfielder at the end of the season.

Barca looked to get around Arsenal’s refusal to agree on a compulsory right to buy clause by allowing Suarez to leave on loan, but on the condition that he signed a new contract.

Arsenal set to seal loan deal of £50m rated star before transfer deadline

Arsenal have launched a surprise loan bid for Barcelona winger Malcom, with negotiations for Denis Suarez still ongoing.

According to The Sun, the Gunners are hoping to secure the Brazilian’s signature before the current transfer window slams shut, on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

Arsenal are still in transfer talks with Barca regarding the permanent sale of Denis Suarez, but the Premier League club have also now submitted a loan offer for Malcom as Unai Emery aims to bolster his squad at the Emirates Stadium.

The Sun reports that the Spanish champions are reluctant to sell Malcom outright at this stage of the season, but they may consider a loan switch so that he can play regular football elsewhere before returning fresh next season with a potentially even higher market value.

Barca would consider a £50 million bid from potential suitors for the 21-year-old in the summer, but that valuation is only likely to be met if he can prove his worth during a consistent run of games, which are unlikely to be forthcoming at the Camp Nou under Ernesto Valverde – as per The Sun.

This means that not only do Arsenal have the opportunity to secure Malcom’s services until the end of the 2018-19 campaign, but they would also stand a good chance of signing him a permanent basis beyond that.

The Gunners could now potentially land two Barcelona superstars before the winter transfer deadline on Thursday night, which would represent a huge coup for the club.

Barcelona set to hijack Arsenal’s move for Manchester United star before transfer deadline

La Liga champions, Barcelona are set to hijack the bid of Unai Emery’s Arsenal to sign midfielder, Jaun Mata from Manchester United.

Mata played under Arsenal manager, Unai Emery during their time at Spanish La Liga side, Valencia.

Mata’s contract with Man United will expire at the end of the season and the Spaniard could leave Old Trafford as a free agent.

The 30-year-old has been urged to quit the Red Devils due to his lack of regular playing time.

According to Goal, Barcelona have made initial contact with Mata’s representatives over a potential summer move to the Camp Nou.

The report claimed that Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde wants Mata in his squad for next.

Arsenal set to meet star’s £50m asking price to get exciting deal through before transfer deadline

Arsenal are reportedly ready to consider meeting Barcelona’s £50million asking price to seal the transfer of Malcom before deadline day.

The Gunners could do with more quality in their attack and Malcom has been unfortunate not to play more in his time at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian starlet looked a quality young player with a bright future at previous club Bordeaux, but has been overlooked by manager Ernesto Valverde ever since his summer move to Barcelona.

Arsenal could now rescue him from Barca, however, as the Sun report of the north Londoners stepping up their interest during attempts to sign his team-mate Denis Suarez.

The Sun’s report states Malcom would cost around £50m and that Arsenal could meet that asking price, which is just the kind of ambition Gooners want from their club.

The exciting 21-year-old would surely be a considerable upgrade on players like Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in attacking midfield, while Mesut Ozil has recently fallen out of favour.

For any Arsenal fans unconvinced about Malcom due to his struggles in La Liga, here’s some of his best bits from his time in Ligue 1.

Real Madrid consider transfer swoop for 241-goal striker willing to take pay cut to secure La Liga move

Real Madrid are weighing up an approach for AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, with only five days left of the winter transfer window.

According to Don Balon, the Colombian striker is looking to secure a move away from France during the January market, with Monaco facing the prospect of relegation from Ligue 1 come May.

Don Balon states that the 32-year-old’s preferred destination is Spain and he is willing to take a pay cut to seal a switch to Real Madrid in the coming days.

The European champions are now considering a transfer swoop for Falcao, who has been one of the most devastatingly effective forwards in the game over the last decade, with 241 career goals to his name.

The best spell of his career arguably came in the Spanish capital between 2011 and 2013, when he scored 68 goals for Atletico Madrid in just 86 appearances.

Should Madrid indeed decide to submit an offer for Falcao, not only would they be bringing in a proven goalscorer with plenty of experience at the highest level, but they would also be taking a swipe at their local rivals by signing a former Atletico favourite.

The Colombia international has not been as prolific in Ligue 1 this season, however, as he has struggled to impress in a Monaco team which looks destined for the drop, managing just eight goals in 18 matches.

That being said, he managed to hit 39 goals in his previous two campaigns with the French outfit and if he was to return to a club of the calibre of Real Madrid, he would surely start to increase his output once again.

There are few better natural finishers in Europe than Falcao and even as he approaches the latter stages of his career, he still has plenty to offer.

Madrid have endured a difficult 2018-19 season so far and they are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, which means this particular deal could easily go through before the window slams shut on February 1st.

Arsenal vs Man Utd: Mesut Ozil sends clear message to Unai Emery's men

Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil, has sent a clear message to Unai Emery’s men ahead of their FA Cup fourth round tie with Manchester United on Friday night.

The ex-Germany international insisted that a “huge” game against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side awaits them at Emirates tomorrow.

Ozil was left out of the squad that defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the Premier League last weekend by Arsenal manager, Unai Emery because of “tactical reasons”.

It is believed that Emery is open to selling Ozil in January and reports claim he will even listen to loan offers.

Ozil signed a new long-term deal at the club last February and it sounds like the player will fight for his future at the North London club.

The midfielder however took to Twitter on Thursday and wrote: “A huge FA Cup game awaits us! #Together #COYG #M1Ö #YaGunnersYa @Arsenal @MatteoGuendouzi”

Already a blue!!! See what higuain did after Chelsea win against Tottenham

Gonzalo Higuain watched on from the sidelines as Chelsea booked their spot in the League Cup final, but he looked absolutely delighted after the game.

The Blues secured a 2-1 win over Tottenham in normal time, leaving the tie level at 2-2. The hosts went on to hold their nerve at Stamford Bridge, emerging victorious from the penalty shoot-out to set up a date with Manchester City at Wembley next month.

Having joined too late to make his debut in midweek, Higuain was forced to watch from a distance on Thursday night, but he’s clearly settling well and making himself at home, as seen in the image below of him celebrating alongside Maurizio Sarri.

The pair enjoyed a very productive spell together at Napoli previously, with the 31-year-old scoring 38 goals in 42 games, the most prolific campaign of his career to date.

With that in mind, Chelsea fans will be hoping that they can work together to help him rediscover that level and form, having struggled through the opening months of this season during his loan spell with AC Milan.

Sarri’s system will undoubtedly suit the Argentine, and based on the image below, he has all the commitment needed as he appears to be relishing the opportunity to play for Chelsea as he was pictured celebrating alongside his more muted boss.

Maurizio Sarri asks Chelsea board for £45m transfer as Blues duo near exits

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has reportedly asked his board to deliver the transfer of Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj as two players look set for the Stamford Bridge exit door.

The Daily Mirror claim Hysaj is now a loan target for the Blues, with Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta looking set to leave the club this January.

Hysaj is a reliable and proven right-back who has shone in Serie A, impressing for Sarri at two of his former clubs – Napoli and Empoli.

The 24-year-old is ideally being lined up for a loan to Chelsea, though they may have to pay as much as £45million for the Albania international as Napoli would rather sell him permanently, according to the Mirror.

Chelsea started brightly under Sarri before a recent slump, so it’s little surprise the Italian tactician appears keen to make a number of changes to the squad at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Juventus goalkeeper, Emil Audero as a long-term replacement for shot-stopper Petr Cech.

The 36-year-old keeper will retire at the end of the season, leaving Bernd Leno as the only first-team goalkeeper at the Emirates.

Metro UK reports that Arsenal are willing to sign Audero to provide competition for Leno at Emirates.

Audero, who has impressed so far this season, is currently on loan at Sampdoria from Juventus.

The 22-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season.
And is said to have reached an agreement with Arsenal.

Concern for Chelsea: Eden Hazard makes decision on Real Madrid transfer

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has once again left the door open to a possible move to Real Madrid in the future, which will concern Blues fans.

As noted by Marca, speculation of a move to the Bernabeu refuses to go away and it seems as though the Belgian is doing little to entirely dismiss those links.

With the Spanish giants yet to fill the void left behind by Cristiano Ronaldo last summer following his switch to Juventus in terms of a marquee signing, that will arguably ensure that the Hazard links remain.

Particularly if he continues to talk about the possibility of a move to Spain as noted below without fully committing himself to Chelsea, it will remain a source of real concern for the Premier League giants.

“Why not? You know it very well. You’re asking the question, but you know what the answer will be so you don’t have to ask it,” he said when asked if he’d be happy to join Madrid, as quoted by Sky Sports  via an interview with France Football.

“I’ve won everything in England, apart from the Community Shield, but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving. I’ve always said that I wanted to explore something different after England but there are also things that might make me stay.

“After the World Cup, I wanted to leave, but in the end I stayed at Chelsea and I’m playing one of the best seasons so far.”

That also gives hope to Chelsea that he will remain as he is happy in west London, but it doesn’t get rid of the question marks entirely.

Length of one's lifespan may soon be predicted, all thanks to DNA

Analysing the DNA may help predict whether a person will live longer or die sooner than average, according to a study.
Researchers at the University of Edinburgh in the UK analysed the combined effect of genetic variations that influence lifespan to produce a scoring system.
People who score in the top 10 per cent of the population might expect to live up to five years longer than those who score in the lowest 10 per cent, they said.

The findings, published in the journal eLife, also revealed fresh insights into diseases and the biological mechanisms involved in ageing.
"If we take 100 people at birth, or later, and use our lifespan score to divide them into ten groups, the top group will live five years longer than the bottom on average," said Peter Joshi from the University of Edinburgh's Usher Institute.

The researchers looked at genetic data from more than half a million people alongside records of their parents' lifespan.

Some 12 areas of the human genome were pinpointed as having a significant impact on lifespan, including five sites that have not been reported before, according to the study.
The DNA sites with the greatest impact on overall lifespan were those that have previously been linked to fatal illnesses, including heart disease and smoking-related conditions, researchers said.

Scientists achieve the first stable simulations of DNA crystals

A study by researchers at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine has been the first to achieve stable simulations of DNA crystals…

Since the birth of structural biology, x-ray crystallography has been the most widely used technique to determine the three-dimensional structure of biomolecules—the chemical compounds found in living organisms. In this regard, knowledge of the interactions between the biomolecules with their crystal environment and the molecular forces that stabilise the crystals would serve to optimise this technique.

A study by researchers at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) has been the first to achieve stable simulations of DNA crystals. This accomplishment has allowed the scientists to explain the importance of the chemical additives used experimentally to achieve suitable crystallisation conditions and stable crystals in the laboratory.

“The first to benefit from this study is the community of biophysicists and computational physicists/chemists, who now have a reference and clear protocols through which to achieve stable simulations of DNA crystals,” says Pablo D. Dans, a postdoctoral researcher at IRB Barcelona.

Led by Modesto Orozco, head of the Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics lab, the study presents the most detailed atomic description of the properties of DNA crystals to date.

“In the long term, the simulation of several crystals obtained in a range of experimental conditions should allow us to anticipate and predict the effect of a given chemical additive, thus serving to guide crystallographers in their experiments and considerably reducing the cost and time needed to obtain the crystals,” remarks Modesto Orozco, whose lab is an international reference in bimolecular computation and simulation.

Chelsea set to seal transfer of LA liga superstar to replace Cesc fabregas

Chelsea have reportedly made a ‘good offer’ for Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Isco, a player who’s seemingly fallen out-of-favour at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Isco hasn’t started a game in La Liga since October, with the Spaniard seemingly not Santiago Solari’s first choice to start either out wide or in midfield.

And it looks like the 26-year-old could have been handed a way out of Los Blancos if Don Balon‘s report is anything to go by.

According to the report, Chelsea have made a ‘good offer’ for Isco, with the Blues wanting the midfielder to fill the void left by Cesc Fabregas following his transfer to French giants Monaco.

The report also notes that Real won’t be letting Isco leave unless the Blues include Eden Hazard as part of a deal for the player, so it looks like Chelsea know what they need to do in order to bag their man.

Isco would be a quality signing for Chelsea, as the player still definitely has it in him to perform consistently for one of the world’s top sides despite his current poor form with Real Madrid.

The Spaniard has shown time and time again these past few years that he’s one of the most creative and dangerous attacking midfielders in the world, an element Chelsea could definitely do with in their side to ease the pressure on main man Eden Hazard.

It seems Chelsea have made their move in the race to sign Isco, it just remains to be seen whether the Blues end up getting their hands on the midfielder, something that may see Hazard go the other way if this report is anything to go by.

Unai Emery gives update at press conference: as fans want to know Where Arsenal stand in the January transfer window 'with 12 days to go'

We are edging ever closer to the transfer deadline and Arsenal have yet to add to their squad this month.

A number of players have been heavily linked with a move to N7 but we are still waiting for the first arrival to come through the door.

So where do Arsenal stand with only 12 days left in the transfer window?

              What's happened so far

Tipped to bring in players this month following the injuries to Holding and Welbeck, Unai Emery revealed at the start of January that he would only be able to sign players on loan as he has no cash to spend, while the uncertainty over head of recruitment Sven Mislintat's future at the club has not helped either.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Saturday's game against Chelsea, the Spaniard provided an update with the clock now ticking down to the end of the window.

"This transfer window is not easy to take players that can help us with better performances than the players we have now," he said.

"The club is working and I spoke with Sven, with Raul about different possibilities with players.

"They are working but it is not easy to take players that can help us with big performances now. I think it is more one transfer for something special you need that can help us.

"We are looking, the club is working with the possibility to loan players and if we can take for helping us in a different position on the team, then maybe we can."

Barcelona set to beat Real Madrid to the transfer of €120m Premier League superstar

Barcelona are ready to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, with a mooted summer deal now in the works.

The Belgian superstar has been heavily linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu for months now and he even admitted last year that it was his ‘dream’ to one day play for Los Blancos – as per BBC Sport.

Chelsea are already bracing themselves for an approach from Madrid at the end of the current season for their talismanic attacker, but Barcelona are now prepared to throw their hat into the ring.

According to Don Balon, the Spanish champions are willing to pay beyond the €120 million asking price for Hazard, in a bid to steal the 28-year-old’s signature from right under the noses of their arch-rivals.

Hazard’s current contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire in 2020 and at the moment he is stalling on signing an extension with the club, which has left the door open for his possible exit.

Barca are hopeful that Hazard can be the perfect foil up front for club captain Lionel Messi, as the club bids to conquer the Champions League once again in the next couple of years.

Don Balon reports that the Blues winger confessed he is a huge fan of Messi recently, stating he is the ‘greatest of all time’, which has only served to add fuel to the rumour that he could favour a move to Barca ahead of Madrid if both do indeed come calling.

Chelsea set to succeed with third bid after agreeing terms of star player transfer

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the transfer of Leandro Paredes from Zenit Saint Petersburg as their first January signing.

The Argentine has agreed personal terms with the Blues, who have so far had two bids rejected for the player, though all parties supposedly anticipate this deal eventually going through, according to the Daily Star.

The report states Paredes was not Chelsea’s first choice, but that a move for Cagliari midfield starlet Nicolo Barella looks off the table in this transfer window.

Paredes looks a decent alternative, however, with Chelsea seemingly only really looking for a replacement for Cesc Fabregas to come in as a backup to the likes of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.

Fabregas ended up joining Monaco after a lack of playing time, but if Paredes has agreed terms as the Daily Star claim, then he is presumably more willing to put up with spending time on the bench at Stamford Bridge.

Another Chelsea Player is set to join Cesc Fabregas at Monaco

Monaco have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Chelsea striker, Michy Batshuayi, after his loan spell at Valencia was cut short.

Goal reports Batshuayi’s agent, Meissa N’Diaye, has arrived in the Principality to hold further talks regarding a move.

Everton had been considering a bid of up £18million ($23m) for Batshuayi, given they are unable to sign him on loan.

However, Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is already plying his trade at Goodison Park on a temporary basis, with Premier League rules stating a maximum of one player can be loaned to another club at any one time.

Should he complete the move to the Ligue 1 outfit, he would be reunited with Thierry Henry, with the former Arsenal striker and current Monaco manager having previously worked as a coach for the Belgian national team.

Batshuayi would also become the second Chelsea player to move to the Stade Louis II during the January window after Cesc Fabregas.

American University Tells Faculty to Disregard 'Quality' of Writing When Grading

A seminar at American University in February will instruct faculty members to disregard a student’s “quality” of writing when grading their papers.

According to a report from The College Fix, an upcoming seminar at American University will ask professors to disregard a student’s “quality” of writing when grading their assignments. The seminar, which will be conducted by University of Washington-Tacoma Professor Asao Inoue, will include a variety of lectures that will encourage professors to disregard the quality of writing from students.

One event will encourage professors to recognize “white language supremacy” is perpetuated by standard grading practices.

Arsenal set to close first transfer deal 'as player is to undergo medical tests today'

Aaron Ramsey could reportedly be taking a step closer to sealing a move to Juventus on Sunday, as the Arsenal man is said to be undergoing medical tests with the Italian giants.

The Welshman will see his current contract with the Gunners expire at the end of the season, and as noted by the Guardian, he has publicly spoken about how it was the club who opted to withdraw their offer of a renewal last year.

In turn, an exit from the Emirates seems inevitable, albeit it could be argued that the most sensible strategy from Arsenal would be to try and find a deal in January with an interested party in order to avoid losing Ramsey for nothing in the summer.

Unfortunately for them, it appears as though the 28-year-old is edging ever closer to reaching an agreement with Juventus, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that he could be undergoing medical tests with the Bianconeri on Sunday, with a view of moving forward and reaching an agreement.

The report even suggests that Juve officials are in London to carry out the tests, as they are seemingly eager to wrap up a deal to add Ramsey to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, perhaps this month if possible or in the summer.

It’s justified if accurate, as the likes of Sami Khedira and Blaise Matuidi aren’t getting any younger, and so in terms of maintaining their domestic dominance moving forward coupled with the desire to conquer Europe, adding a younger yet proven and experienced option in Ramsey seems like a sensible move.

Time will tell if an announcement is made in the coming weeks or months, but as per reports in Italy, it seems Juventus are very keen to proceed with snapping up the Arsenal man.

Chelsea confirms 'two new signings' following the departure of Cesc Fabregas

There will be an ‘imminent’ signing at Stamford Bridge according to this Chelsea journalist. The Blues have just seen Premier League legend Cesc Fabregas leave to join Monaco.

According to Standard Sport reporter Simon Johnson, the departure of Fabregas to Monaco paves the way for the ‘imminent’ announcement of a new signing at Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph reported earlier today that Chelsea have agreed deals in principle to sign midfielders Leandro Paredes and Nicolo Barella.

With the Blues battling to make a decision between Paredes and Barrela, Simon Johnson revealed tonight that the West London outfit were closer to signing Zenit midfielder Paredes.

Both men have the time to develop their skills and the pair could go on to establish themselves as some of the best midfielders in the world. There is of course a larger upside to be had by signing Barella, as he is three years younger than 24-year-old Paredes.

The Blues will be hoping that the signing of either Paredes or Barella ignites a spark in the middle of the park.

Maurizio Sarri has so far failed to make the most out of a stacked midfield contingent which includes; N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Barcelona include star man in deal, as they are set to land transfer of Chelsea hotshot

Barcelona are reportedly ready to use Malcom in a deal to bring Brazil and Chelsea winger Willian to the Nou Camp.

Malcom has hardly set the world light in La Liga since his move to Barca from Bordeaux this past summer, and it looks like the winger could be used in a deal to bring Willian to Catalonia.

According to the Daily Mail, Ernesto Valverde’s side are willing to use the 21-year-old in a player-plus-cash deal to sign Willian, a player the same report states Barca failed to sign last summer.

The report further states that the Blues may be convinced into letting Willian go considering the fact the Brazilian international is 30 years old and will be out of contract in the summer of 2020.

If Barcelona had any sense, this offer is one they should not be making at all costs given the fact that Malcom still has his best years ahead of him.

The former Bordeaux man has struggled to find a place in Barca’s first team this term, however this is mainly down to the resurgence in form of Ousmane Dembele, and not the Brazilian’s wrong-doing.

Malcom is nine years younger than Willian, and should he continue to develop at the same rate he has done these last 18 months or so, could easily turn into a better player than the Brazilian in to the near future.

If Barcelona do end up getting rid of Malcom for Willan, it’s sure to be a decision that will annoy many Barca fans, something that’s just not wanted in any scenario.
