Mesut Ozil breaks silence after missing Arsenal’s derby win over Tottenham

MESUT OZIL has broken his silence following Arsenal's victory over their bitter rivals Tottenham, which he was absent for.

The retired Germany international missed the first north London derby of the season with a back spasm.

His absence didn’t have a detrimental effect on the team, though, as they beat their neighbours 4-2.

The Gunners had to battle back from 2-1 down to maintain their unbeaten run, which now stretches at an impressive 19 matches.

And shortly after his team-mates saw off Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Ozil took to Twitter to hail their performance.

Alongside a graphic of the players celebrating, Ozil tweeted: “When @seadk6 (Sead Kolasinac) pulls out the Emirates corner flag then you know something big has happened.

“Proud of the whole team. North London is red!”

Arsenal chief Unai Emery was delighted with his team’s display but is now fully focused on Wednesday’s trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

“Now I am thinking of the match on Wednesday in Manchester,” the Spaniard said. “It is a very big victory, we showed our supporters and we gave them the victory because it is a very special match against Tottenham, for us it is special also.

“But above all it is three points, like against Bournemouth.

“We are happy, we are enjoying, but shocked because Tottenham are on 30 points like us.

“We need to continue our process, creating our way.

“Today was very big things, for our confidence this was a very good match.”
